Published its first edition June 7, 2010, combining the best of the 128-year-old Honolulu Star-Bulletin and the 154-year-old Honolulu Advertiser.<br> The newspaper is managed by Oahu Publications Inc., a subsidiary of Black Press. Dennis Francis is president of Oahu Publications and publisher of the Star-Advertiser. The senior management team at the Star-Advertiser also includes Dave Kennedy, senior vice president/advertising, Glenn Zuehls, senior vice president/advertising, Roger Forness, vice president/technology, and Frank Bridgewater, vice president/editor.

The State Press has consistently been rated among the best college newspapers in the country. In 2004, 2005 and 2006, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association named The State Press a Gold Crown and Silver Crown winner, respectively — the highest awards given to college newspapers. The State Press also was honored in 2005 with the Payne Award for Ethics in Journalism, a prestigious national award given to one college paper each year for its commitment to ethics. Student journalists working for The State Press consistently place in the prestigious Hearst awards for college journalism students and sweep the Society of Professional Journalism regional awards.

Three years after Brigham Young led Mormon pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley in 1847, the first issue of the Deseret News was pulled off a small hand-cranked press. This eight-page newspaper was the first published in what was then called the territory of Deseret. <br> Although the state of Utah has long-since replaced the old territory, the Deseret News retained its original name. In 2003 the paper switched to morning delivery and today the Deseret News is published daily as Utah's oldest — but most modern — newspaper. <br> Over the years, the Deseret News has earned hundreds of awards for writing, reporting, design and community service, including the Pulitzer Prize.

The Summit Daily employs 29 full-time employees, 11 part-time and two interns.
