    Coil Yoga, 937** Fresno

  764 P. Street - Fresno, CA
"Opening COIL YOGA (an acronym for Conscious, Open, Integrated, Living) in the spring of 2002 has been the most rewarding decision I have ever made. The joy and love I am able to share and receive from the community of people at COIL YOGA is priceless. It was not an easy decision to leave the stability of my job at Community Medical Foundation and take a leap of faith to become a small business owner in Downtown Fresno. Thanks to that job at Community, I found the space that is now COIL YOGA. As soon as I saw the room, I knew I wanted it to be a Yoga studio. Shortly after that, I discovered the owner of the building was Arthur Dyson, a long-time friend of my late grandfather. One sign after another continued to "show up" and support my desire to take that exciting leap. In its infinite wisdom, the universe provided exactly what was needed so that my vision could become a reality ... one breath at a time ...one student at a time..."

    Sisters Yoga, 937** Fresno
  2940 E. Nees Avenue Suite 103 - Fresno, CA
"Sisters Yoga is Fresno's first all-female yoga studio. Unlike traditional yoga studios, Sisters focuses on a happier, looser, less traditional form of yoga which includes music that runs from R&B to pop to World. Instructors also incorporate props such as blocks and straps to help students attain correct alignment regardless of their skill level. Classes range from Happy Hour yoga which is more of a "workout", to "Chill Out" which is restorative, gentle yoga. A Pilates mat class, and "Yo-God!" which is Christian-based, free to the community and half of donations go to the Marjaree Mason Center. Sisters Yoga also holds many monthly, dance workout workshops. Owner Kandis Kliewer and Founder Chaz Russ, who are registered with Yoga Alliance, believe all females need a place where they can nourish themselves away from relationships and responsibilities. Sisters Yoga provides a space where the female yogi (age 7 and up) can tune into her unique melody, the same melody that serves as the soundtrack to her life. This is a place where women can “let their hair down,” learn how to laugh at their misfortunes, tend to the garden of their self-esteem, and amaze themselves with their growing inner and outer strengths."
    Yoga For Living, 937** Fresno
  3017 W Bullard - Fresno, CA
"Director Michael Downing is passionate about yoga. This is not a hobby or a second job, this is his life. That dedication is what has helped transform so many lives over the last six years. People come to Yoga For Living for many reasons, but the reason that so many stay and develop a regular yoga practice is because the change in their bodies and in their lives is profound. Michael is proud of the team of instructors who share his passion for yoga and for the nurturing, supportive environment that they provide for the students. Yoga teacher MaryAnn Jones once said "I love teaching yoga because yoga attracts the best people, the cream of the crop" This could not be more true of the Yoga For Living Kula or community, where students are more than just customers, they are truly friends. As instructors, we continue to learn each day, from our students and for this we are grateful. We invite you to email us and share your personal yoga story. We love hearing how yoga has changed your life. Melinda Downing, Yoga For Living. '"At Yoga For Living, we believe yoga is about challenging the breath. We do this by putting the body in various poses and remembering to breathe. It's not so much about flexibility of the body, but rather our ability to relax and breathe when we feel challenged in a pose. When we walk out the door and are faced with stressful situations in our day to day lives, we can use that same relaxed breathing to get us through any situation. For all of us no matter what our goals or accomplishments, the next thing for all of us to do...is breathe." Michael Downing, director, Yoga For Living."

"Bikram Yoga is a challenging 90 minute series of 26 postures(asanas) and 2 breathing exercises in a heated climate that provides the body with a complete system of wellness, restoration and rejuvenation. The Bikram method stimulates organs, glands and nerves, moving blood to 100% of the body by utilizing the Tourniquet Effect (also known as the Lock Gate Theory). Bikram Yoga, founded by Bikram Choudhury of Calcutta, was brought to the North America in 1972, following a scientific study at Tokyo University Hospital . The Bikram method is practiced worldwide as an effective program of balanced health."
